Issue six of Wiċoṡkaŋ highlights the many ways the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) continues to grow, adapt, and invest in the future while remaining grounded in the values that have guided our Dakota people for centuries.

Launched in 2025, Wiċoṡkaŋ was created as a way to share more about the SMSC and our cultural traditions and lifeways, featuring stories from the past, present, and future. Each issue is a reflection of who we are—grounded in our Dakota culture, guided by our sovereignty, and committed to caring for our people, our lands, and the next seven generations.

Thank you for being part of our story.

Ṗiuŋdapi (We are thankful).
