Retail
Our Shakopee Dakota Convenience Stores deliver fast, fresh and friendly supplies to locals and visitors. Our cashier positions help customers with gasoline and car wash purchases as well as our Premium Rewards program.
Recreation
Engage with visitors who enjoy an active and cultural lifestyle. Annual and seasonal positions are available at our award-winning public golf course The Meadows at Mystic Lake, Dakotah Meadows RV Park, Dakotah! Sport and Fitness, Dakotah! Ice Center, the SMSC’s cultural center Hoċokata Ṫi, and other areas of opportunity.
Health & Wellness
The Health and Wellness Department is one of the SMSC's largest departments, with a wide range of services including high-quality child care and early education at Playworks. The Community is also served by a collection of clinics and providers, such as Integrative Health, Mystic Clinic, Shakopee Dakota Medical Clinic, Shakopee Dakota Dental Clinic, the SMSC Vision Clinic, the SMSC Pharmacy, the SMSC Mobile Unit, and visiting specialists.
Public Safety
As a sovereign nation, the SMSC maintains a full-time professional fire and ambulance department—Mdewakanton Public Safety—that provides emergency services to the Community, guests, and neighboring governments. SMSC Conservation and Enforcement upholds conservation laws—both state and tribal—on SMSC lands, educates people about the law, and cites violators.
Land and Natural Resources Department
The Land and Natural Resources Department helps fulfill the SMSC’s strong commitment to environmental stewardship. Our philosophy is to plan seven generations ahead, which further supports our dedication to protecting and preserving the environment.
Marketing
The Marketing Department strives to support the SMSC and the needs of its departments and enterprises through a wide variety of platforms and audiences. The department is a driving force in sharing the SMSC’s successes while also documenting the Community’s history.
Education & Child Services
The SMSC recognizes the Native American family as the foundation of our Community. The Family and Children Services Department strives to preserve family stability with high quality, professional services through support, guidance, and advocacy tailored to meet the unique needs of each family member. The Education Department provides youth support through homework help, mentoring, tutoring, and youth activities in order to set students on a positive path to adulthood and career success.
Tribal Government
The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is a federally recognized, sovereign nation. Our tribal government oversees the economic, civic, and social responsibilities of the SMSC. We look for high-performing support and experienced professionals to administer the tribal government’s expanding operations.
Finance & Charitable Giving
The SMSC’s Finance Department is invested in securing the Community’s financial future and provides resources and services to Community Members. Guided by a strong tradition of helping others, Charitable Giving serves the SMSC in three forms—donations and grants, team member outreach, and Community Member outreach.
