Conservation Enforcement

Conservation Enforcement was established to enforce the SMSC Conservation, Fish, and Game Ordinance and the SMSC Off-Road Vehicle Ordinance. Conservation Officers are POST licensed by the state of Minnesota and work cooperatively with the state of Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, the Prior Lake and Shakopee police departments, and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
Conservation Officers focus on enforcement of the SMSC-approved ordinances through proactive interaction with SMSC members, resident family members, and non-resident, non-family members. Conservation Officers also work diligently to protect the SMSC’s natural resources by patrolling SMSC lands by foot, ATV/UTV, and emergency vehicles. The goal is to reduce trespass complaints, conduct compliance checks on hunters, enforce the ordinance, and keep people safe.
SMSC Conservation, Fish, and Game Ordinance
The purpose of the SMSC Conservation, Fish, and Game Ordinance is to provide an orderly system for the SMSC to regulate hunting on community lands. This ordinance encourages the safe and ethical taking of game and promotes conservation and management of SMSC resources. Please refer to the SMSC Conservation, Fish, and Game Ordinance for more information.
SMSC Off-Road Vehicle Ordinance
The purpose of the SMSC Off-Road Vehicle Ordinance is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the residents and visitors of the SMSC by establishing minimum standards for safe operation of Off-Road Vehicles within the boundaries of the SMSC. Please see the SMSC Off-Road Vehicle Ordinance for more details.
