Drop off your Christmas tree for free at SMSC’s Organics Recycling Facility

Shakopee, Minn. – Scott County residents are invited to participate in a free Christmas tree drop-off program at the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community’s (SMSC) Organics Recycling Facility beginning Monday, December 26, through Saturday, January 14.

Trees must be free of tinsel, flocking, lights, and other non-compostable material. Garlands, wreaths, and spruce tops that are free of metal and other non-compostable items will also be accepted. Located at 1905 Mystic Lake Drive South in Shakopee, the SMSC’s Organics Recycling Facility is open for Christmas tree recycling from Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m.-12 p.m. until January 14.

This free program is available to all Scott County residents; please be prepared to show identification for proof of residency. For more information and to learn about other compostable products accepted at the facility, call 952-403-7030 or visit www.smscorf.com.
