The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) has a strong tradition of helping others. Honoring the tradition of wóokiya (generosity and helping), the SMSC continually invests in its people, neighbors, local organizations, and Native tribes across the country.


SMSC Philanthropic Initiatives and Highlights
Since the 1980s, the tribe has donated more than $400 million to tribal communities, local governments, and various causes, and provided $500 million in low-interest loans to help other tribes work toward financial stability and self-sufficiency.
