Prior Lake, Minn. – Scott County residents can drop off yard waste for free every Sunday through October 28 at the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) Organics Recycling Facility.

The SMSC Organics Recycling Facility is located at 1905 Mystic Lake Drive South in Shakopee. Yard waste can be dropped off between 8 a.m.-2 p.m. every Sunday now through October 28. Acceptable waste includes brush, sticks, leaves and clippings. To show proof of Scott County residency, residents must bring their driver’s license or state ID card.

In 2017 during the months of April, May, September, and October, more than 5,000 Scott County residents dropped off yard waste at the facility for free. The SMSC Organics Recycling Facility keeps organics out of landfills by recycling this waste into nutrient-rich soil amendments suitable for farming, gardening and landscaping.
