Free Yard Waste Drop-Off at the SMSC Organics Recycling Facility

Prior Lake, Minn. – Scott County residents are invited to drop off yard waste for free every Sunday from April 7-May 26* at the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community’s Organics Recycling Facility.

The SMSC Organics Recycling Facility is located at 1905 Mystic Lake Drive South in Shakopee. Yard waste can be dropped off between 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Acceptable waste includes grass clippings, leaves, mulch, brush, straw/hay bales, plants, flowers, and compostable paper products. To show proof of Scott County residency, residents must bring their driver’s license or state ID card. SMSC employees and team members must bring their employee ID badge.

Since 2013, more than 25,000 Scott County residents have dropped off yard waste at the SMSC Organics Recycling Facility for free during the months of April, May, September and October. The facility recycles this waste into nutrient-rich soil amendments suitable for organic farming, gardening and landscaping. Individuals residing outside of Scott County are welcome to drop yard waste off for $10 a load.
