Neighbors invited to drop off yard waste for free at SMSC Organics Recycling Facility

March 21st, 2016

Prior Lake, Minn. – The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community’s Organics Recycling Facility (ORF) is inviting Savage, Prior Lake, Shakopee, and Scott County residents to drop off their yard waste for free. Spring drop-off dates include every Saturday in April and May from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Since the inception of the free yard waste drop-off program in 2013, more than 10,000 residents have participated in the ORF’s spring and fall events. In 2015 alone, the ORF received 20,826 tons of yard waste from residents, cities, counties, and commercial customers. The ORF recycles this waste and turns it into nutrient-rich soil amendments suitable for organic farming, gardening, and landscaping.

The Organics Recycling Facility is located at 1905 Mystic Lake Drive South in Shakopee. For more information, call 952-403-7030 or visit www.smscorf.com.
