Prior Lake, Minn. – To celebrate Independence Day, the public is invited to attend a free fireworks display sponsored by the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community on Thursday, July 4, at 10 p.m. The fireworks will go on, rain or shine, unless there is severe weather. The display has been put on by the SMSC Public Works Department for the past 19 years.

The fireworks display is open to the general public, with best viewing near the SMSC Wacipi (Pow Wow) Grounds, located at 3212 Dakotah Parkway, Shakopee, Minnesota. The Wacipi Grounds are just south of County Road 42 between County Road 83/Canterbury Road and County Road 17/Marschall Road.
